Fix for Error 5.4 (Windows Exploit Protection Settings)

What’s Causing the Issue?

This error happens when Easy Anti-Cheat tries to check a setting on your computer and can’t get the information it needs. It seems to happen on systems where certain Windows security protections are turned off, especially a feature called Bottom-up ASLR.

This is a built-in Windows feature that helps protect your system from certain types of attacks. If it’s turned off, it can cause EAC to stop working correctly and show the 5.4 error.

How to Fix It

You can fix this by turning Bottom-up ASLR back on in your Windows settings:

Steps:

  1. Open the Start Menu, type Exploit Protection, and click on Exploit protection when it shows up.
  2. In the new window, go to the System settings tab.
  3. Find the option called:
    • Randomize memory allocations (Bottom-up ASLR)
  4. Change the dropdown to Use default (On) or manually set it to On.
  5. Restart your PC.

Turning this on should stop the error from happening. We also recommend keeping the other protections (like CFG and DEP) turned on for better overall security.
