If Wildgate appears to freeze on a black screen or fails to load after the Easy Anti-Cheat splash screen, you may be experiencing a known compatibility issue. This problem affects a small group of players and is often tied to older Intel CPUs or recent Windows/system-level changes.
If you are playing on a CPU in the Sandy Bridge family (mainly Core i7 2000 & 3000 models) - we have a known compatibility issue that currently doesn't have a workaround.
Note: If you are playing on PC, we only support Windows at this time. If you are getting errors running on anything other than Windows, we will be unable to assist.
Symptoms
-
Game does not launch after the Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) window appears
-
You only see a black screen
-
No error appears, or you receive:
LAUNCH ERROR: CreateFile failed with 32
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Restart Your PC
Sometimes background processes or partial EAC launches can prevent the game from starting properly.
2. Temporarily Disable Conflicting Software
Close or disable the following before launching Wildgate:
-
Discord overlay
-
NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlay
-
Antivirus/firewall software
-
Monitoring tools like MSI Afterburner
3. Run the Game as Administrator
-
Go to your Wildgate install folder
-
Right-click the game’s executable (.exe)
-
Select Run as administrator
4. Check Your GPU Drivers
- Ensure your PC meets the minimum specification here
-
Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date
-
If issues continue, try rolling back to NVIDIA version 566.41
(Note: You may see a "drivers are outdated" message when launching the game—click through to continue)
